Dr. Kalauawa oversees all of Waikiki Health’s medical programs and services, and has cared for the agency’s patients, supervised clinical staff, and offered Waikiki Health as a learning center, teaching medical residents and students, since 1986.

He is a graduate of the University of Hawaii School of Medicine, and is a certified HIV Specialist (American Academy of HIV Medicine). He treats a variety of general internal medicine illnesses, with a subspecialty in HIV. Teaching appointments at the University of Hawaii include serving as Assistant Clinical Professor in the Dept. of Medicine and in the Dept. of Family Medicine and Community Health. Dr. Kalauawa has received numerous awards and citations for his service and inspiration to HIV patients and the community.
