As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Kalauawa oversees Waikiki Health’s core service: Primary Care; provides direct patient services; and supervises the agency’s health care team of physicians, physician assistants, family nurse practitioners and other providers and clinical staff. He has been with Waikiki Health since 1986. Dr. Kalauawa is a graduate of the University of Hawaii’s School of Medicine, and is a certified HIV Specialist (American Academy of HIV Medicine). He has won numerous awards for his work with HIV/AIDS patients and dedicated service to his patients and the community.

Dr. Kalauawa enjoys the experience of feeling “at home” when around his patients:

“I was raised in public housing in Palolo Valley and many of my patients share this same type of background. I feel very comfortable interacting with these patients. In fact, you could say that I feel at home around them. I try to help them as much as I can.”
