Medical Assistant (PATH Clinic)

Waikiki Health is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant.
Pay rate for this role is $22.50 per hour.
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 40-hour work week

Under the direction of a provider and/or director, the Medical Assistant (MA) assists the provider in providing clinical services and transcribing. The MA provides customer service, patient education, and population-based management. MA performs clinical and administrative duties as instructed to and within clinic protocols.

Qualifications and abilities:

  • Familiarity with common software programs, (i.e. Windows-based programs) an ability to quickly learn new systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, community members, and staff members.
  • Minimum typing speed of 45 WPM.
  • Proficient in computer skills: typing, navigating through the internet, and emails.
  • OSHA training.
  • BCLS biannually.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of Medical Assisting program, or degree in a similar field from an accredited institution, or 6 months of clinical medical assistant job experience, or similar certification as a Phlebotomist, Certified Nurse Aide or Emergency Medical Technician, or current enrollment in a Pre-Nursing, Pre-Med, or PA track program at an accredited institution.

General duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the process of completing procedures related to procurement and processing of diagnostic laboratory specimen samples as ordered by the physician with accurate labeling and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) documentation.
  • Reports significant physical findings to provider and documents findings in EMR.
  • Answers clinic phone calls, takes messages and/or appropriately directs calls verbally or via EMR patient case.
  • Assist with productivity and working with the clinical staff and medical providers.
  • Continually to work with clinical team to identify ways to provide efficient and effective care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
