Tobacco Treatment Specialist
Waikiki Health is seeking a Tobacco Treatment Specialist to join our dynamic multidisciplinary team. In this full-time role, you will be a vital part of our integrated healthcare team, working closely with medical providers, behavioral health providers, and other healthcare professionals to offer comprehensive, patient-centered tobacco treatment services. Your role will be crucial in helping patients with chronic diseases achieve their health goals through effective and supportive tobacco treatment strategies.
Pay rate for this role is $48,000 – $52,000.
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40-hour work week.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in health-related field with counseling experience required. Master’s degree in either counseling or clinical psychology preferred.
- Experience with counseling substance abuse and/or mental health populations preferred.
- Must possess or obtain certification (provided by Waikiki Health) as a Tobacco Treatment Specialist from a nationally recognized institution upon hire (Mayo Clinic, University of Massachusetts).
- Completion of training and progress towards NCTTP certification from NAADAC is acceptable as long as certification will occur within 6-12 months of hire.
- Computer skills required with EHR and Microsoft Office Suite experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
- Sensitivity and adaptability to the diverse cultural backgrounds of our patients.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain detailed records.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Provide comprehensive tobacco and nicotine counseling services, including education and nicotine replacement therapies (e.g., patches, gum, lozenges).
- Maintain a minimum caseload of 40 patients, providing personalized support and treatment plans.
- Work collaboratively with medical providers and other healthcare specialists in the identification and referral of high-risk populations to tobacco treatment.
- Document patient encounters and treatment data in our electronic health record (AthenaNet) and Tobacco Database within 2 days of each encounter.
- Participate in monthly team meetings to discuss goals and program benchmarks.
- Assist with grant reporting and participate in local and national tobacco cessation initiatives.
- Represent Waikiki Health at functions and meetings related to tobacco cessation.
- Develop and implement specialized recovery support services, such as education and treatment groups.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
