triage

At Waikiki Health, our top priority is keeping our patients, staff and our communities as safe as possible during this fight against COVID-19.

Given the rapidly changing situation, we are taking aggressive measures to help ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe when visiting (and working) in our clinics. We believe the following measures are necessary steps that will help address the spread of COVID-19. We anticipate these changes to be in effect for the next few weeks and we will evaluate and change as necessary.

  • Triage tents have been set up outside our Ohua and Makahiki clinics to maintain safety for our patients and staff, whereby every patient checking in is screened for COVID-19-like symptoms before they are allowed into the clinic. This includes patients at our PATH and Youth Outreach clinics.
  • Anyone checking in that displays COVID-19-like symptoms will be further screened by a provider outside in a separate screening area and will be referred to Queens for testing if appropriate. Even though our medical providers are not currently testing for COVID-19, we are referring screened patients to The Queens Medical Center as needed.
  • For our patients’ convenience and safety, if picking up prescriptions or mail, we are practicing social distancing so our staff will personally assist you with these services outside the clinic. Please look for designated signs set-up and note that mail pickup at Ohua is available Monday through Friday, 12:30 to 2 pm.
  • We also are proactively contacting patients to offer rescheduling for non-life-threatening and non-urgent appointments, especially for patients over 60 and people with additional underlying health conditions that make them more vulnerable.

Remember that if you are developing symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath) or you believe you’ve been exposed, it’s important to contact us first so we can direct you to the most appropriate care. Call 808-922-4787 or visit waikikihealth.org.

Stay safe and please know that Waikiki Health is here for you as your patient-centered medical home and your ONE CONSTANT during these continuously changing times.
