What if I have a medical emergency?
Call 911 immediately if you are having a life-threatening emergency. Do not call your provider first. Follow-up with your provider within 24 hours of your emergency or when your health allows.
What is Waikiki Health?
Waikiki Health is a private, non-profit, federally-qualified community health center. Our mission is to provide medical and social services to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. We place special emphasis on serving at-risk, hard-to-reach populations. Services are provided at our clinics on Oahu and through our outreach programs reaching across the island. Can anyone receive services from Waikiki Health?
Yes. We provide quality medical and social services for everyone, regardless of ability to pay. If you are uninsured, underinsured and/or have insurance, you may qualify for our sliding fee scale. To do so, you must have proof of income. Please inquire with Kari Bunn, Program Assistant to the Director of Native Hawaiian Healing at (808) 537-8489 or kbunn@waikikihealth.org. No one is turned away for inability to pay.
I do not have insurance; what types of documents do I need to bring?
Please bring one of the following for income verification, to assist with the sliding fee processing:
- Recent paystubs
- Tax return, if self-employed
- Proof of unemployment
- Proof of Department of Human Services benefits
- Proof of Temporary Assistance for Needy Families
- Proof of SSDI/RSDI/SSI or Social Security Retirement Benefits
AND One of the following for identity verification:
If you are a U.S. citizen, please bring State ID or Driver’s License.
If you are NOT a U.S. citizen, please bring Passport, Legal permanent resident (green) card or Student/Work Visa.

How do I make an appointment?
For Ohua and Makahiki Clinic, call Kari Bunn, Program Assistant to the Director of Native Hawaiian Healing at (808) 537-8489.
Can I schedule an appointment online?
Appointments must be made over the phone or at the clinic, but walk-ins are available at Ohua and Makahiki Clinics. Please call Kari Bunn at (808) 537-8489 for same day appointments and walk-ins.
Do I have to make an appointment?
Appointments are recommended for our Ohua Clinic in Waikiki and Makahiki Clinic in Moiliili, but walk-ins are available at Ohua and Makahiki. Please call Kari Bunn (808) 537-8489 for same-day appointments and walk-in information. Youth Outreach clinic do not require appointments.
What types of services does Waikiki Health offer?
Our primary care clinics offer preventive and acute medical services for everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Read more about our Primary Medical Care services.
At the PATH Clinic in Kaimuki, we offer OB/GYN, women’s health and pediatric services in a comfortable, home-like setting.
We offer services for homeless youth age 14-21, at our Youth Outreach (YO!) Drop-in Center in Waikiki. We also manage the homeless shelters, Next Step Shelter in Kakaako and Keauhou in McCully-Moiliili.
How do I make Waikiki Health be my PCP (Primary Care Provider) or change my PCP within the Waikiki Health network of providers?
Please contact your insurance company to inquire about changing PCP to Waikiki Health or from Waikiki Health to another outside provider.
How can I reach a provider after hours?
You can reach our on-call provider after clinic hours by calling the Physician Exchange at (808) 524-2575.
What is Eligibility Assistance?
Our Eligibility Specialists help patients enroll in health insurance plans and provide access to discounted or free medications for those who meet income and other qualifications.
