As Waikiki Health’s Chief Marketing & Development Officer, and a member of the agency’s leadership team, Mary Beth is responsible for fundraising activities at the local, state and national level, involving government entities, corporate giving programs, private trusts and foundations, and donor gifts from individuals and companies. She is also responsible for raising brand awareness though local media outlets including press coverage in print, television, social media, electronic email and traditional direct mail campaigns. She is charged with marketing and promoting our mission throughout the business community.
Mary Beth’s 21-year career as a business leader includes holding positions in Hawaii and Arizona for American City Business Journals, parent company of Pacific Business News and The Phoenix Business Journal.
From 2009 to 2012 Mary Beth served as Publisher of Pacific Business News (PBN), overseeing all of the company’s news, advertising, business operations and staff. As Publisher, she directed a complete redesign of the weekly newspaper, restoring the paper to its original tabloid size. Her other accomplishments include relocating the paper’s office from Waikiki to downtown Honolulu, and moving printing and delivery functions from Oahu to Maui.
Starting in 1991, Mary Beth served as PBN’s Director of Circulation, responsible for the sale and distribution of the company’s print and online products as well as marketing the newspaper and its business recognition events. Earlier, Mary Beth was Circulation Director at the Phoenix Business Journal.
Devoted to community service, Mary Beth is a volunteer Board member and Public Relations Chair for three Hawaii nonprofit organizations. In this role she spearheads public relations activities, utilizing her media expertise to promote community awareness and development.
Mary Beth is a graduate of Western State College in Colorado, and prior employment includes working as a reporter for a business newspaper and as a stockbroker for an investment firm.
